Works well, easy to set up

I got this along with my bike from craigslist for only [...] bucks. I drove home with my new bike 150 miles. At first, I thought the bike didn’t seem very secure, so we made sure the cords were tied around the bike (it was also 10 degrees outside so it was a little tough to get anything tight. While driving on the interstate, I thought it may have come loose because every time I drove past a semi, the front of the bike wobbled. So, I pulled off after a few miles and checked it out. Still very strong of a hold! Made it all the way home safely. I knocked off a star because I felt like the plastic straps do not hold the bike as well as it should: the bottom of the bike still rocked in and out, and the front wheel was free to turn.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to transport a bike. It fit on the guy that I got it from’s SUV, and on my sedan with a spoiler. The reviewer who said it won’t fit on standard cars is wrong. It may point at a weird angle, but it will definitely hold the bikes on your car.

Buyers Beware

With the box you get a whole list of cars, vans and SUVs that work with this gismo, and a longer list of vehicles that are not compatible. Contrary to Amazon’s description “Fits regular trunks to square back SUVs and minivans” it will not fit standard square backs such as a Honda Pilot 2009. That according to the paper that came with it. Note too, that the directions in the instruction booklet are extremely vague. Unless you’re savvy with setups and don’t need a detailed manual this may work for you.

I could not Google a website or manufacturer’s number to get more information on which item WILL fit.

Did just what i needed it to do.

I went about this backwards. I bought the rack then read the reviews. After reading the one star review by Red Hook I was fully expecting to leave my bike on the asphalt along the Oregon Coast. After the review I was nervously looking in my rear view mirror to check if my bike was still there. After putting it on and driving 250 miles up and down the coast and back to Portland I had no problems. It was and it was secure. Great product at a great price.
