Allen 102S Premium 2-Bike is a 2-bike trunk-mounted carrier that can easily be snapped in place. It features long carry arms with a length of 12 inches. Aside from that, it offers extra internal clearance that fits almost all vehicles with rear-mounted deck spoilers. There is a patent dual compound with tie-down cradle system that secures and protects the bicycles individually. The Allen 102S Premium has already been assembled, and is guaranteed with a lifetime warranty on material as well as workmanship defects.

Allen 102S Premium 2Bike Trunk Mount Rack features very long carry arms that quickly accommodates up to 2 bikes. It has a wonderful ability to snap into place the moment you get it right out of the box. For storage, you can fold it away easily with one hand.

The patented tie down system of Allen 102S Premium 2Bike individually protects and secures you bicycles. In addition to that, it has an internal clearance on the rack to allow most vehicles to mount it on its rear deck spoilers. Weighing 10.2 pounds, the light-weight Allen 102S Premium 2Bike has dimensions of 23x15x5 inches.

Here are a few things that you should know the moment you get your Allen 102S Premium 2Bike. Although it may seem a little bit obvious, but because this bike rack virtually takes only seconds to install and remove, it is recommended that you never leave your bicycles attached to it while you are away.

The locks tend to be useless with this type of rack design. Aside from that, you would need to get some bungee cords/rope/Velcro straps to tie your front wheel with to avoid swinging and bouncing that would tend to damage your car. For those people concerned their license plates not being seen, then you would want to have it rest on the lower third of your license plate so that it could be seen.

Watch out for the result of cost reductions

I purchased the 102S model based on (i) the Company’s reputation and (ii) the reviews from Amazon customers. This looked good when the product arrived, it was properly packaged and free from damage. This a very intuitive product and this is necessary as the instructions packed with the product are marginal at best. Things went well until I went to adjust the top strap – the lever on the clamp broke off with just the slightest pressure. This of course made any adjustment impossible.

Upon examination it was evident that the quality of the metal used in the clamp was not sufficient for the purpose intended. The quality of the metal reminded me of that used in some of the cheap products that were imported after WWII. This problem was apparently not unexpected as I saw that one other customer reported it and when I called Allen they treated it without any expression of surprise an in fact they sent me two of the clamps an indication that I should expect a repeat of this problem.

The rack itself shows evidence of good engineering and reasonable workmanship which is a credit to the founder Dick Allen. My contact at the company was Alex Allen would is apparently in charge and frankly was not impressive. I suspect that this product has, and continues to undergo a “cost reduction” analysis that has resulted in the inferior clamps that can break at any time. One has to wonder what will be next? When a product breaks “out of the box” and the replacement part is no better than the one that broke it does not instill confidence.

This was a good product at a fair price IF the quality of the parts are not diminished. I am concerned that the current product does not represent a good value as a result of what I see as a deterioration in quality – Buyer BewareAllen 102S Premium 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack

Great bike rack. I took it out of the box. It required no assembly. It attached to the car in minutes. I took my bike on vacation, a 700 mile trip. I checked the tightness of the straps at every fuel stop. I never had to retighten straps. It worked the same on the return trip home. So, I highly recomend this rack. It worked great. It is simple and inexpensive.Did not leave a single mark on car. I have a 2008 Honda civic and I worry about that.

    Everything I needed!

I needed a bike rack for one of my college courses. I looked up a few and this one seemed to have everything I needed. It fits my 2001 corolla perfectly. I tested it out the first day and it was perfectly sturdy. The fastest I drove with it and the bike attached was 80 mph and the spped didn’t seem to effect it at all! I highly recommend if you are looking for a bike rack!

Good quality product for the price. The rack quickly and easily attaches to the car. You will need a couple of bands to secure the front wheel and the bike to the rack so that it doesn’t hit the car while driving. The rack is sturdy, and when attached properly, the bike is secure and moves very little while driving.

It has lot’s going for it.

I have a Chrysler Pacifica and this was one of the few racks that was advertised to fit that car. (Car has a plastic extended trim on top of the rear door). The rack has a lot going for it… well built, generally light, and folds to a small package for easy storage. The only downside thus far is a nagging concern that the plastic trim may yet be a victim. So far it has done well, with about 100 miles total of paved roads travelled. The other niggling thing for me was the lack of a place to lock the bike to the rack supports. Installation is fast and easy, with only a few seconds required to re-adjust the straps when moving to another vehicle. I would recommend the Allen premium 2 to anyone.

    Does the job

I needed a bike rack compatible with the spoiler on my honda accord and this does the job. Because I’m concerned about the slightest scratches on my paint I still drape a towel over the spoiler first. I like the rack, but was disappointed that it was wider than the inside width of my bike rods (Trek 7400). Although, I found I can get the bike mounted by placing the one side of the rack infront of the back tire, under the rear rods to the back wheels. It’s not a perfect fit in the bike grips, but works for now.

I would highly recommend this product! I have a Toyota Corolla S with a spoiler and if fits great! It’s very sturdy. I had to purchase the Allen adapter for womens bike to make my bike fit. Also, I put small pieces of fabric under the metal trunk clip to avoid paint scratching. Overall, great product!

I have been impressed with this bike rack. It was easy to mount on our car with basically no assembly required. The mounting strap system securely holds the bikes in position. During shopping review for a bike rack the consumer responses were the initial factor along with the great price that swayed me in this purchase. This was a solid decision and now one of my co-workers has also purchased this product.

part broke but company fixed it right away
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I am very unhappy with the product. It broke the first time I used it. I put it on the car, loaded the bike and then traveled 25 miles. The bike was secure, but that was not the problem. When I got home and started taking the rack off the release on the top strap clamp broke. The only way that I could get it off was to undo all the other straps and then slide the strap off after the others were loose. I am going to contact the company and hopefully they will send me a replacement part. The company promptly sent me a replacement part for the broken clasp. Great service and hopefully this one will not break.

    Awesome bike rack

I was looking around for my first ever bike rack and finally settled on this one because of the numerous solid reviews it recieved. Couldn’t be happier with my choice! The rack is very sturdy and has plenty of room for two bikes. The points of contact between the bike frame and rack have thoughtfully covered by some black plastic tubes so no metal to metal rubbing. The thing that was worrying me most when i was thinking of purchasing this was the pedal of my bike rubbing against the trunk. However, the way the rack is designed actually keeps the pedal from coming close to the trunk. You just have to simply turn the inside pedal to the 12 o’clock position so that it rests against the bar.

The rack is perfect for normal shaped adult sized bikes but would be a bit problematic for smaller frame bikes such as kids bikes or womens bikes that have a slanted upper tube (there’s a bar you can buy that’ll easily solve this issue). So far the rack’s tie downs on the car and on the bike are super sturdy and don’t come loose or sway around during a drive and over speed bumps (i wasnt flying over those bumps of course). Best of all…the foamy parts of the rack that touch the car didn’t scratch or dent my car. It could mostly be bcause I always follow the manufacturers advice and wipe down the area on the trunk where the foam touches.

    A few more things:

-It may seem a bit obvious but since the rack literally takes seconds to install and remove I would highly recommend not leaving your bike(s) attached to the rack while you’re away. Locks will be useless with this rack design.

-you will definitely need some rope/bungee cords/Velcro straps to tie down your front wheel to keep it from swinging and bouncing and ultimately damaging your car

-for those of you who would be concerned about this the rack makes it hard to see your rear license plate. Mine sits on my 2008 corolla with the bottom foam resting right on the lower third of my license plate.

    GREAT BIKE RACK

I drove cross country from Richmond VA to San Diego California and I did not have one problem with this bike rack. When I was going through the desert and my constant speed was between 85-95 mph I decided to tie the bike straps to each other might sound confusing but you will figure it out and I did not have to tighten them for the rest of the ride. I have a 2004 Taurus and it fit perfectly and I am the worst with assembling things but it literally took me 5 minutes and I did it by myself. I only brought out one bike though so I can only comment on this using on bike but I fell in love with it and I use it all the time when I ride around CA. AWESOME RACK HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The rack works as it should and it is sturdy, simple to use. I took about 20 minutes, the first time, to hook it up at the back of my honda civic coupe. The main part of the time was to adjust the straps. Subsequently it took me only a couple of minutes to put it on. The price is reasonable and it works.

I bought this for my dad for his birthday because he needed a new bike rack, and its been a month and so far it has worked fine. We have only used it twice, but no problems. Everything seemed to work fine and we loved how it folded up for easy storage. I would definitely recommend this as it has been good for us.

Well built trunk bike rack, but…..

This bike rack is my second Allen. The first one I bought is great – use it on my spare tire of my Jeep. This one, 102S, the fittment guide was a little off…. Allen claims this bike rack fits cars with spoilers (top part of rack fits over spoiler). I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra with a stock spoiler. This rack does not fit over spoiler, but right behind it and below it. I tested it today, but did not drive-test it. I hope it doesn’t bounce. Also, what they neglected to tell me; the maximum weight limit of the rack is 70 lbs. Which means, if you have 2 bikes about 40 lbs. each, you can’t use this rack. Also, there are 2 bolts on the top of this rack that are loose and appear to need tightening – they hold the top straps to the rack. These bolts cannot be tightened because the thread on the bolt does not go all the way down to the head. Not sure why they are supposed to be loose, but it seems the rack would be a bit more sturdy if these bolts were not so loose. I will be posting a picture soon. FYI – when you put the bike on the rack, on most cars, it will block the third brake light as well as the license plate. Not sure how the police will handle this.

    Perfect in every way

I was looking for a simple rack that didn’t break the bank for use to haul my bike within 20-40 miles (in other words, I wasn’t looking for something to take on long road trips). It’s a beautifully designed rack that does exactly what it should.

I cannot overestimate my ineptitude when it comes to putting mechanical things together (part of the reason I wanted a rack is because I’m so awful at removing my front tire and putting the bike in the trunk). And yet I was able to install this rack easily — and I have a hatchback with a spoiler. Really, it works like a charm. The straps are very long to accommodate any size car and the braces click into place without a hassle. It also folds flat in my trunk, so I can pull it out and have it up in a couple of minutes.

If you are not sure if it will fit your car, check out the Allen website. They list very clearly which auto models will and will not work with their different products. Because mine is a Saab hatchback, I definitely wanted to check before buying from Amazon. The site said it would work and it did.

I bought this rack in May and I’ve used it non-stop since then. The rack is easy to install. The straps tighten down effortlessly. The rack has large foam pads at each touch point so there’s no damage to the trunk.

Allen 102S Premium 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Back racks in general can be pretty pricey. This is a pretty reasonable price for this product. This rack was extremely easy to put on my car (2009 Honda Civic) and felt very secure with my bike on. I did have to buy an adapter for my woman’s road bike. Another notable comment: I used the extra slack from the straps used to strap it to the car to secure the pedals. I drove 900 miles at up to 80 mph without any problems or concerns. The rack fits easily in my trunk. I though the bike rack stood up very well.

This bike rack is a very good value. The 4 straps are adequate enough to keep 2 bikes in place without the worry of the bikes shifting or moving around. I’ve had them for a short period of time, but it looks solid enough to last a number of years. It fits many different vehicle models, but check their website to make sure it fits yours. It manages to actually look pretty cool too. It’s definitely a great alternative to more expensinve brand models, but does the same thing without breaking the bank.
