OK with 3 bikes

I know many of the reviews recommend the Express rack for only 2 bikes, I just thought I’d mention that I had no problem using it with 3 bikes: a 26″ Trek mountain bike and two 24″ Trek mountain bikes. I did not have to remove pedals. My car is a Kia Sedona minivan. The bikes did not come close to bumping against the car and the straps did not come loose on a 2-hour trip nor on the return. I was impressed with the solid build quality and the metal buckles.
A potential downside is that the racks are a bit far apart. For both of the smaller bikes I put one rack through the frame near the seat and had to rest the bike frame on top of the other rack. I’m also not sure how long the rubber belts will last, though I guess you can eventually replace them with short nylon belts.
Here are a few tips:
If you’re worried about the straps coming loose you can knot the strap over the buckle — that’s what I did.
Make sure to use the extra safety strap.
There are 6 U-shaped pieces for resting the bike frames in. You can rotate these sideways to make it easier to slide the bike onto the rack. You can also slide them on the rack to change the spacing between bikes.
Before you attach the bikes to the rack, find the best position for the the bike pedals so they fit through the adjacent bike’s spokes and don’t interfere with the adjacent bike’s frame.
After you’ve loaded the bikes on, get someone to lift the back of the rack to take the weight off while you tighten the top straps one last time.
Great Bike Rack

Great Product!!! Used bike rack this past week to go camping. Very easy to install and the bikes stayed in place, no bouncing around. Would recommend this product.

This is the perfect bike rack for me! It fits perfectly on my car 2008 Honda Civic (3dr) it is very easy to set up and take off. I recommended it to a friend and she does not stop thanking me for the recommendation!
Great rack for the price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I had looked through a number of racks for $50 before choosing this one and another. Finding one that had the side-straps proved to be important – the other rack did not have the side straps, and was too unstable.
This rack has done extraordinarily well for the price – I love it. It mounts and dismounts from the car quickly and easily (The areas I take it to, I have to store the rack in the trunk so it doesn’t get stolen), and is sooo stable. After mounting the bike, you are supposed to re-tighten the rack, but I rarely have to do so. There is a strap included to stabilize the front wheel, and it works very well. I know others use Bunji-Cords, but I have never used anything besides what came with the rack.
My only real complaint is that the curvature of my car’s back-end (a CTS) causes the metal of the rack to rub the metal of the car at this one point in the very center – I usually put foam or a wad of paper-towel there and it’s fine.
I am very happy with this purchase, and recommend the product.
good for three bikes
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I just got this and used it to transport two adult road bikes and my 9 year old daughters kid’s bike and it worked fine. The rubber-like grips that hold the bikes are work fine and seem well-designed. Unlike my old “three bike” rack, which really could not accomodate the same three bikes, this one did. I put it on my old Toyota Camry and it worked fine. The three straps and metal grips worked on on the top, sides and bottom of the trunk. It is also good that you can open the trunk without taking the whole bike rack off. (I had to do this with my old one). We drove to the Cape, over one hundred miles and it was all fine. We have only used it there and back, but so far so good. I would recommend it highly. Michael Jacoby Brown, Arlington, MA
Nice Rack
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is the first car bike rack I’ve ever purchased. I’ve used it once on a multi-day outing where I had to rack and unrack our two bikes several times. The rack is easy to mount and easy to make very secure and tight. The materials appear to be of high quality. We bought the three-bike mount just in case and I’m glad we did. Understandably, the company cannot custom make the racks for every combination of bikes. I would really have to cram the bikes together to get three on there and it would be a problem with pedals getting into spokes. You really have to figure out how to fit the bikes on the rack as “girls’” bikes do not have a top tube. Once you get it down for your bikes, then you simply repeat the process. The directions that came with the rack are sub par in my opinion. The pictures are small and not clear. They could easily be improved and should be. A tip, once you mount the rack and adjust it where you want it, mark the knob splines (both halves) so you can set and tighten them before you mount the rack in the future so you don’t have to keep finding just the right place. Also note that the rack does not have any locking mechanism for the bikes. I used additional straps to tie off wheels so they wouldn’t rotate (steer left and right) and bang into things. And, keep in mind that you won’t want to open and close the trunk while the bikes are mounted so plan ahead. Overall I am well pleased with the product and it serves our purposes well.
Awesome rack

This is a great rack, well worth the money. It mount perfectly fine on my 1997 honda accord sedan. After playing with it for a bit, i manage to put 1 adult mountain bike, 1 adult beach cruiser and 1 adult bmx bike. With 3 bikes the rack i notice the handle start to bend down a bit. I usually take them to the beach which is about 30-45 mins away and it works just fine. Not sure about long road trip. I have attached a few pictures, check it out for yourselves.
Rack works great and yes it will fit 3 Bikes!!!

I was a little worried when I ordered this Bike Rack that it wouldn’t fit 3 bikes because some of the reviews said it wouldn’t but it will. I put my 26″ beach cruiser on it first as it is recommended that the bigger bike goes on first with the front tire facing the driver’s side of the car. Next I put my daughter’s 20″ bikes on and there was no problem at all, in fact I drove them almost 7 miles with no straps on (I forgot them at home when I went to pick their bikes up from their house, I know that was stupid). The only thing holding them on was the 6′ foot strap that is used for holding the bikes on. There was no problem with the bikes staying on the rack. Some reviews suggest this rack might scratch your car but if you take your time and adjust the rack to fit on your car the way it’s supposed to fit you shouldn’t have any problems scratching your paint. For the price I thought the rack was pretty sturdy and well built. If you’re looking for an inexpensive bike rack that WILL carry 3 bikes this is a nice rack.

I just got back from a 900 mile road trip and the bike rack worked out great. Anytime I’d pull over for gas I’d check the straps to make sure they were nice and tight, not once were they loose at all. This rack served it’s purpose!!!
Great rack for the price

This rack is great for short trips and quick and easy installs. The straps allow you to use it on a variety of vehicles, with fairly simple transition. For my intents and purposes, it does exactly what it needs to do. But as mentioned in an earlier review, I wouldn’t recommend it for long trips, as it is all strap and weight based. The straps can loosen over longer journeys. If that’s your need, I’d suggest upgrading a little bit.
E3 for 2008 CRV

The Hollywood Rack has been working well for my sons BMX bike. I have yet to use it for more than one bike. The structure seem like it should be able to hold two more bike with no problems. I would recommend it for someone looking for an affordable compact bike rack.
that works for me

I HAVE A TOYOTA COROLLA SEDAN AND A HONDA CRV. THIS RACK IS REALLY GOOD ON MY SEDAN BECAUSE THE PEDAL GOES ABOVE THE TRUNK AND DOESN’T HIT THE CAR, BUT ONCE I TRIED IT ON MY CRV AND I HAD TO COVER THE PEDAL BECAUSE IT WAS SO CLOSE TO THE BACK DOOR THAT WOULD SCRATCH THE DOOR. TOTALLY ITS A GOOD RACK AND I COULD PUT 3 BIKES ON IT, (1)26″ & (1)24″ MOUNTAIN BIKES AND (1) 18″ KIDS BIKE.
DON’T FORGET TO RE-TIGHT ALL THE ROPES AFTER LOADING THE BIKES ON THE RACK.
I HAVE NOT TRIED IT IN LONG DISTANCES AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT CAN TAKE THAT LONG WITHOUT BEING LOOSEN.
Great Bike Rack!

Quick and easy set up. Once in place, the rack is very stable and the bikes remain securely mounted. We managed to squeeze 4 bikes on for a weekend trip. Did not have any problems.
Some tips:
Arrange the arms to be as far out as possible so that the bike pedals don’t scratch the pain on the trunk.
Remember to tie up the loose ends of the straps after you’ve installed the rack; we forgot to do so on the way back and shredded the ends of the straps by dragging them on the road for 200 miles!
Use the extra strap lengths to tie down the front wheels/handlbars so they stay in one place.
great rack

This rack works well.
I haven’t tried to put 3 bikes on it, but I doubt it will hold them all.
It holds 2 bikes well.
I’ve had this for months now, and I saw another car with a roof mounted bike system. From what I saw, it seems to be the absolute best way to carry bikes. I saw a medium sized sedan carry 4 fully assemble bikes on the roof. I fell in love with that system and looked it up online, only to see that that type of system would cost over 250 dollars!!!
I don’t regret buying this rack, but if you have the $$$ buy a roof rack!
Last Note: I’ve scratched my car up with the bikes with this rack. Load the bikes carefully!!!!
Nice affordable rack

This rack gets the job done. I mostly use it for local trips (under 10 miles) so I can’t speak to its performance over long distances, but for what I do it’s perfect.
Getting it set up each time can be a bit tedious, and the center rack-to-bike strap usually comes loose, but other than that no real complaints. It scratched up my trunk paint the first time I used it because I didn’t offset it from the car enough, definitely be careful about that.
Considering the price of most bike racks out there, this is a VERY good buy for your money at less than half the price of others.
Been meaning to post a review!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve been meaning to post a review of this bike rack. I purchased this rack about a year and two months ago. With that amount of time of usage, here is my quick review.
-The build of the rack itself-
The rack is solid and does not feel flimsy at all. The knobs to tighten and loosen the pivot of the rack is also a solid piece.
-The mounting of the rack-
I own a Lexus IS250. This rack works perfectly with this model car. Also, any other car with similar shape should work out. I usually wipe down the areas where my rack makes contact with the car. I don’t want the dust to scrape via friction from contact with the foam cushions on the rack to my car.
Mounting only takes a minute or two, literally. Once you try this out, and do it a couple times, its unbelievably easy!
I have used this rack with usually one road bike. I have mounted two road bikes on occasion and last weekend tried two road bikes and a mountain bike. Having three bikes turned out to be just as safe and steady on the rack as having one! Incredibly sturdy and reliable.
-Gripes, complaints-
Not much really.
The knobs when tightened very snug does also tighten the silver pieces that “pivot” the straps – so if you tighten the knob, make sure the strap is pointing in the right direction where the strap will be going in. This alone should not deter any potential users as I have never found this a problem or irritating enough. It’s just one of those things you go…oh I have to loosen the dial to re-adjust the strap…no biggie- takes 5 seconds.
Also, my road bike is a size 48, the rack is a bit too wide for the main length of the frame, but for a bike this size, there is a spot infront of the rear bike tire that you can mount that fixes this issue.
-Final words-
After a year, I am still looking back to make sure my $900 bike is still mounted up, even though its a solid bike, I wanted to make sure my bike was there…haha!
I have never taken off my bike after a long mount to notice it getting any looser or unstable. The mount is always SOLID. For this price, the rack can’t be beat!
Good fit

I have an 04 Malibu with a spoiler and it fits fine. You need something to tie down the excessive slack but no problem on short trips. Also on the spoiler you need to put down a rag so the metal on metal don’t scratch the paint. All in all for the price i am very pleased.
I love it!

This is a great bike rack for a great price. It serves it purpose but I can only fit 2 bikes on it. It is easy to install and uninstall. I was looking for a rack that wouldn’t leave a mark on my car because I have a lease, and I read the reviews and thought this one seemed the best, and I was right. I research every product I buy and I am glad I found this one. I am very satisfied and highly recommend this one!
Not great but works.

It’s an OK bike rack. It works fine on a 97 Altima and just barely on a 2007 CRV. Bikes won’t fall off but they do swing a bit and can scratch the car with pedals or scratch themselves if there are multiple bikes on the rack. For the price it is fine for my needs – 5 mile ride to the trails once a week. In terms of convenience, this does not come close to a roof rack and some other trunk racks are probably better.
Easy to mount and sturdy

I’m very pleased with my purchase. It comes fully assembled in the box so no hassle trying to figure out instructions to put it together. It opens and folds flat for easy storage. I keep mine in the trunk and it doesn’t take up much space. It takes about 10 minutes to put it on the car with bikes attached (that is after I figured it out the first time). The bikes remained secured in place the whole trip. The only drawback to this product is that it is not meant for childrens bikes. Bikes with shorter crossbars (or thicker crossbars) to do not fit in the clamps. I had to put the smallest bike in the trunk, attach the rack, put on the adult bike first, and then the junior bike fit only on one side and I tied it with the straps on the other side. This is the only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars. Overall an excellent product.
Solid… 500 miles and not even a peep

I bought this rack to transport my daughters bikes from where I am in Boston back to Toronto where they are now living. With 6 straps it was the most secure rack I could find online without getting a trailer hitch.
The rack mounted in about 10 minutes after a bit of adjustment to the straps (and figuring out that the bottom 2 went to the bottom not the sides). On the day of the trip it took again about 10 minutes to re-mount the rack. The bikes slid on with little difficulty and we were on our way.
About 70 miles into the trip we stopped for coffee and I checked the straps. That first portion I never felt any shift, or heard any bounce. The two bottom straps came away from the liftgate on the van. Even with just the 4 this rack was exceptionally solid! Re-secured the straps and we were again on our way.
I would recommend this for anyone who either wants to take bikes (3 for this model) on short or long trips. Mind you I haven’t taken the rack offroading… yet
